On May 23, 2024, Senate Bill 790 passed in the NC Senate and is now referred to the House.

This bill would require that the State Bar modify certain of its rules and adopt additional rules to, among other things, allow a respondent attorney the opportunity to address the Grievance Committee at the initial hearing stage and require the State Bar to adopt an expungement process for certain disciplinary actions. The full bill can be viewed HERE.
